Due to an internal promotion, we are now looking for a Supervisor to join our team in our Speakers and Rigging Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in Live events, exhibitions or broadcast, who has team leader experience or someone who is looking to take the next step in their career.
What will you do?
You will be supporting the Head of Department (HOD) in all aspects of the running of the Loudspeakers and Rigging Department, including daily supervision and mentoring of the team and taking full responsibility and accountability for the efficient running of the speakers & rigging department in the HODs absence.
The main job tasks will be:
- Communicating effectively and regularly with the HOD regarding the readiness of goods and services to be supplied to our clients and passing this information onto the rest of the team in an effective way
- Leading the team by example, including training, planning & organisation of tasks and workload
- Working weekends in the capacity of Supervisor as per the weekend rota issued by the Warehouse Manager
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of warehouse logistics and day-to-day operational requirements of the Speakers & Rigging department
- Any other work deemed necessary for the smooth running of the Department and Britannia Row Productions Ltd
Warehouse and Equipment management
- Ensuring that our clients are supplied with the correct equipment and that the equipment is supplied in excellent working order and cosmetic condition
- Reporting to HOD/Warehouse Manager/Operations team of any incidents of damaged, lost or missing equipment
- To prioritise sub-hired equipment for return during de-prep
- Ensuring the team are on track to complete jobs within the specified time-frame
- Prepping and de-prepping of speakers and rigging equipment
- Keeping track of and knowing the where abouts of the audio equipment owned by or sub-hired by the Company and any equipment or goods belonging to other suppliers that is brought to the warehouse from time to time
- Ensuring the maintenance and repair of all equipment owned by the company or equipment owned by others that the company has agreed to either maintain or repair
- PAT Testing equipment
- LOLER Rigging examinations
- F.A.S.T. machine testing of speakers, as well as programming new equipment
- Stock control using Finesse with a high degree of accuracy
- Monitoring the use and replenishment of consumables (e.g. tape, cable-ties etc.)
- Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy department at all times, including the storage areas on the mezzanine floor
- Operate the Pedestrian Stacker, Folk Lift and Reach Trucks as and when required.
Staff Management
Permanent Staff
- Monitoring staff performance including attendance, punctuality and quality of work and reporting these to the HOD
- Keeping the team informed if there are changes to projects or procedures
- Provide training and support
Apprentices & Casual Workers(Warehouse Operatives)
- Brief Warehouse Operatives and Apprentices daily outlining their duties
- Ensure Warehouse Operatives and Apprentices are updated if changes are made to the daily briefing
- Provide supervision, training & support
Health and Safety
- Maintain high standards of health and safety within the department
- Ensure that all staff adhere to the Health and Safety policy at all times, including wearing steel capped boots/shoes, safety helmets, high visibility jackets at designated times
- Ensure that any hazardous stock, such as chemicals, are stored safely
- Ensure that accidents are managed and reported appropriately
- To act as a Fire Marshall
- To be a First Aider
- To support & monitor employee wellbeing
What skills and experience do we want?
- Previous team leader experience or someone ready to take the next step in their career
- A background in live sound, events, exhibitions or broadcast with hands-on experience of loudspeakers, rigging, lifting equipment, and general audio-equipment
- A self-motivated person with a desire to learn, expand their skills and share their knowledge
- A person with strong planning, problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
- High standards of working and a passion for working with high-spec audio equipment
- A true team-player who is approachable, reliable and will always lead by example
- Exemplary attention to detail
- Excellent communicator both written and verbal
- Highly organised with the ability to accurately follow instructions and procedures without deviation
- Competent in the workshop with good engineering, metal and wood working skills
- Knowledgeable in the use of chemicals, paints and other volatile substances
- Knowledgeable of all H&S practices and able to implement them
- Computer/software literate
- Knowledge of digital consoles, networking, radio equipment, electronics and other modern audio equipment is desirable
- First Aider - desirable
- LOLER rigging examiner - desirable
- PAT tester - desirable
- Forklift certificate - desirable

Our operating hours are 8am to 8pm. Normal working hours are 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, but you will be expected to work some shifts (8am-4pm and 12pm-8pm), some weekends and additional hours as the business requires. Overtime is paid at single rate Monday to Friday and at time and a half at weekends.
